Soybean (Glycine max), from the Fabaceae family, is an annual plant grown for it's protein-rich seeds. Native to Asia, it is used in food and feed, as well as for the production of oil and biofuels. The introduction of oilcake into animal feed led to a significant boom in cultivation at the end of the XXieme century.
