Triticale is the first cereal created by man, and the first variety was registered in 1983 in the official catalog of varieties.  This hybrid between wheat and rye belongs to the genus × Triticosecale in the Poaceae family, and combines the hardiness of rye with the productivity of wheat. Mainly used as livestock fodder, this non-breading species has good protein and lysine contents and adapts well to cold and difficult soils.
